On behalf of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church and His Holiness Patriarch Pavle of Serbia, His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral received today at the Patriarchate Court members of the Commission for research and collecting Serbian manuscripts in foreign libraries, monasteries, collections. The members of the Commissions are Dr Zoran Nedeljkovic, the President of the Commission, Dr Branislav Todic, Dr Zoran Rankovic, Dr Zoran Rakic, Dr Zorana Spadijer and Dr Vladan Trijic.
An initiative for founding this Commission came from the administrator of the Patriarchate Library, Dr Zoran Nedeljkovic, who is also the president of the Commission.
His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral at the beginning of the conversation said that this enterprise is of a great importance for the Serbian culture in modern society, for it it vital to catalogue and collect all Serbian documents which are abroad. On behalf of the Holy Synod and Patriarch of Serbia, His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije has blessed the work of the Commission.
On behalf of the Commission, Dr Zoran Nedeljkovic said that the primary goal was to archive the scattered treasure of the Serbian tradition and to create catalogues with all available documents. They would start first with Serbian documents and manuscripts located in the Czech Republic. At the end Dr Nedeljkovic, on behalf of the Commission, thanked His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije for the blessing.
His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije at the end of the meeting pointed out that he, on behalf of the Holy Synod and the Patriarch Pavle of Serbia, ready to support every effort and endeavor of the Commission in all areas because the goal and the mission set by them who were present , was very important for the Serbian people and culture,and also suggested to search particularly the archives in the monasteries of Mount Athos and Sinai.
